Even
the Boltfish team know very little about the enigmatic
duo 'Karmøy'.
However, their Nordic fusion of electronic and organic
sounds exemplifies the boltfish ethos. Their name
means "an island which acts as a screen against
the sea".
The shipyards and fishing
port
of Stavanger and the industrial
city of Haugesund have a strong influence on their
sound
- brooding
glacial textures, warm melodic tones and staccato
rhythms constructed from the artefacts of the
recording process - white noise, interference and
data glitches.
The diffused northern light seems to crystallize
these sonic textures into specular form. Releases, Compilations & Remixes on Boltfish

"Karmoy (from Norway) had the best track I
believe with ‘Klem’, a bassy
groover with sophisticated overlays and homages
to Autechre and Plaid."
